Same-sex couples cannot enjoy the same legal and societal benefits that heterosexual couples can, such as inheritance rights, joint ownership of property, and the ability to make medical decisions for their partner.

Additionally, same-sex couples may face discrimination, harassment, and violence in a society that does not fully accept them. The lack of legal recognition can also impact their mental health, as they may feel marginalized and excluded from society.

In conclusion, while there have been efforts to legalize same-sex marriage in India, it is not yet recognized under the law. This lack of recognition has significant implications for LGBTQ+ individuals, and it is important for society to continue to push for equality and acceptance for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
