The National Security Guard (NSG) is a specialized counter-terrorism force in India, established in 1984. The NSG is tasked with the primary responsibility of handling all facets of counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the country.

The NSG is often referred to as the 'Black Cats' because of the black uniform and headgear worn by its members. The force comprises two operational units - the Special Action Group (SAG) and the Special Ranger Group (SRG). The SAG is primarily responsible for counter-terrorism operations, while the SRG handles counter-insurgency operations.

The NSG has a strength of around 8,000 personnel and is headquartered in New Delhi. The force is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, equipment, and technology to effectively deal with any terrorist threat.

The NSG is deployed in high-risk situations where the local law enforcement agencies are unable to effectively tackle the situation. The force has been deployed on numerous occasions, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, and the 2016 Pathankot attack.

The NSG conducts extensive training programs for its personnel, including combat training, tactical training, and specialized training in handling explosives and hostage situations. The force also has its own training academy in Manesar, Haryana, where its personnel undergo rigorous training.

In addition to its primary role in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, the NSG also provides security to high-risk VIPs and conducts anti-sabotage checks and bomb disposal operations.

In conclusion, the National Security Guard is a highly specialized and trained force that plays a crucial role in safeguarding the security of India. Its personnel are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to tackle any terrorist threat effectively. The NSG continues to play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of the country.
