The relationship between India and Sri Lanka can be traced back to ancient times, with the spread of Buddhism from India to Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BCE. India has also played a significant role in Sri Lanka's political history, including supporting the Tamil separatist movement during the Sri Lankan Civil War.

Current Relations: 

Currently, India and Sri Lanka maintain friendly relations, with frequent high-level visits and diplomatic engagements. Economic cooperation is a key aspect of the bilateral relationship, with India being one of Sri Lanka's largest trading partners.
